We originally wanted to go to Nardi, but they didn’t have any space and recommended we try Bar Amics instead — and we are SO glad they did. It ended up being one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Barcelona so far.
A tapas bar right in El Born: small plates to share, seasonal produce and an open charcoal grill. Good produce, fire and as little fuss as possible — with a terrace, signature cocktails and more than 180 wines.

We stumbled across this place looking for dinner late one night, and had one of the best meals of our trip! The vegetarian options are phenomenal and so delicious, particularly the pesto carrot and the poached egg with mushroom and chickpeas.

Our favourite bar in Barcelona! The service was incredible, it really immersed us in the beautiful setting with splendid natural wine recommendations. 10/10
Humo, Ascua, Ceniza, Tizón, Chispa — smoke, ember, ash, firebrand, spark: even the cocktails are named after the fire. And behind the bar, more than 180 wines, natural ones included, to go with every plate.
Outside, the terrace on Allada-Vermell, right in El Born: tables under the awning for lunch, a long afternoon or an unhurried dinner. If you're bringing your dog, it's welcome too.
Small plates made for sharing, ordered for the middle of the table: 2 or 3 per person is about right. Almost everything goes over the fire.

Good produce, fire and as little artifice as possible. Because when the ingredient is good, there's no need to disguise it.
Bar Amicks comes from the same house as Bar Pimentel and Nardi, on Allada-Vermell, right in El Born. An open kitchen as soon as you walk in, where almost everything goes over the fire: seasonal vegetables, fish, aged beef and even dessert.
It isn't a white-tablecloth grill house, nor your usual tapas bar. It's small plates to share, a cocktail bar named after the fire and more than 180 wines to work your way through.
Every plate carries the same words, in Catalan: «Ja som amics per sempre». We're friends for life now.
